It is essential to use accurate scales and follow instructions, to ensure the strength and cure time of SETINSTONE®
Just weigh your cup of water, multiply that weight number by 3 to get the amount of powder required.
Studio conditions should be warm, dry, and out of direct sunlight.
**Humidity may affect performance and cure time.
You may leave your mold to cure overnight for perfect results every time!
Use your silicone molds to cast beautiful art pieces.
The same molds that you use for resin projects can also be used for SETINSTONE!
The standard mix ratio is 1 part water to 3 parts SETINSTONE® powder WEIGHT.
Weigh your cup of water, multiply that weight number by 3 to get the amount of powder required.
Add powder to water slowly.
Avoid dust inhalation.
Mix completely until mixture is smooth and free of clumps.

Wait approximately 90 minutes or until your piece 100% cold and dry to the touch.
**Thicker pices may need more time.
Demold and place piece on a drying rack to allow air circulation.
Let cure for at least 24 hours before sealing
Use a smooth grit sandpaper and sand gently.
Wet sanding is recomended.
Sand in circular motion.
Seal with our gloss sealer or wax polish.
To avoid streaks - Spread the gloss using a slightly damp sponge or soft bristle brush to coat the surface.
Once the first coat is absorbed and dry, you can go in with a second.
More coats will need less product because the first layer will soak into the SETINSTONE a bit.
- SETINSTONE powder is a one part casting medium - you just add water.
The strengthening polymer is a dry ingredient that’s already incorporated into our formula.
- Longer work time means more time to add color
- You can leave your project in the mold overnight without worries of water marks
- Humidity, and size of cast will affect curing time.
* Pro Tip - Leaving the cast longer will make sure the cure strengthens before de-molding intricate or deep molds. Wait until completely dry to the touch before de-molding.
-Make sure to use water-based pigments to color the Setinstone mix (sold separately) making sure the liquid is not more than 2% of the total mixture by weight.
- Always waiting until your project is completely cured before sanding will assure a smooth finish.
Safety-
If your skin is sensitive, we recommend using gloves.
Using a dust mask when working with large amounts of Setinstone is a good idea as well.
You do not need to work in a controlled environment because it is not dangerous to the skin or health.
We advise using Setinstone in a well-ventilated area.
Make sure you have plenty of windows open or a good-sized fan on hand to help move the air around.
Once the Setinstone is poured into the water dust will be minimal.
Wet-sanding will prevent dust particles from becoming airborne as well.
